The first UK airstrikes have been launched in Syria, after MPs voted in favour of the military action on 2 December.
MPs put all other business aside for a 10 hour debate on whether the UK should should join coalition forces, including US and French allies, to launch air strikes in Syria against ISIL targets.
Prime Minister David Cameron put forward his case for air strikes to begin the debates and faced opposition from Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn, as well as the Scottish National Party and a number of vocal Conservative rebels within the House of Commons.
Despite his personal opposition to the air strikes, Corbyn gave Labour MPs a free vote, with many high profile MPs, including Shadow Foreign Minister Hilary Benn, showing support for the Prime Minister’s proposals.
The vote took place shortly after 10pm, with 397 MPs voting for military action in Syria and 223 voting against. The first Typhoon jets have now returned to RAF Akrotiki in Cyprus after conducting an over night raid.
