DB News: 13/11/2015 - 11:08
The UK and India are set to elevate their defence relationship by establishing strategic areas, enabling them to work together across the spectrum of doctrine, training and other elements, upon which military effectiveness depends.
The partnership will allow the transfer of strategic capability, including defence technologies and manufacturing in areas of mutual interest. Furthermore, the nations will support the India-UK technology capability partnership by developing research into new areas, while progressing their defence science and technology collaborative projects.
The nation’s respective Prime Ministers agreed to combine efforts to support the ‘Make India’ projects. In addition, the UK and India will continue to work together to stop financial and tactical support for terrorist networks such as ISIL, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, the Haqqanis and other associated groups.
The two countries will further strengthen their joined efforts to expand the UK’s Chevening Cyber Scholarships programme for India and establish a Cyber Security Training Centre of Excellence.
