Terror guidance developed for rail companies

British Transport Police outline "how rail staff and managers can help keep themselves and passengers safe whilst assisting authorities"

The British Transport Police have drawn up guidance for rail companies on how to respond to terrorist attacks.

The guidance is part of a regular review and updating of counter-terrorism measures.

A spokesman said: "In consultation with the Department for Transport, BTP has developed guidance for the rail industry that gives advice on what to do if there is an "active shooter" attack, ie a Mumbai-style incident, affecting the network."

"The key message of the guidance to staff is to not put yourself at risk. It explains how rail staff and managers can help keep themselves and passengers safe whilst assisting the authorities in dealing with the situation as swiftly and effectively as possible."
