Trump’s troop announcement followed by Taliban bomb

A Taliban suicide bomber has killed five civilians and wounded dozens of others by detonating a car filled with explosives at an Afghan police headquarters.

Reports claim that women and children are among the dead in Lahkar Gar.

The attack arrives a day after US President Donald Trump announced continued US military presence in Afghanistan to avoid the ‘predictable and unacceptable’ consequences of a rapid withdrawal from the country.

The Taliban, who had urged for a complete withdrawal of foreign forces, responded to Trump´s announcement by vowing to make the war-weary country a ‘graveyard’ for US forces.
