Britain orders £46 million radar systems to protect the Falklands
DB News: 26/08/2015 - 12:01
The new radar systems will be vehicle mounted and able to detect threats up to 75 miles away.
The purchase comes after Defence Secretary Michael Fallon warned there is still a ‘live threat’ to the Islands.
He said: “It is our general view that the threat has not reduced. Argentina still, sadly, maintains its claim to the islands 30 or more years after the original invasion and the war and we have to respond to that."
The first systems will be delivered before the end of the year.
