UK to support Maltese government in security operations

As a result of a request from the Maltese government, the UK will contribute Defence assets to support Malta’s security operation for the Valletta Summit on migration and Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2015.
The defence measures are precautionary and there are no known threats for the events.
The government has stated that the UK’s contributing reinforcement to the Maltese security operation demonstrates the that the governing bodies have a close and constructive relationship, as a result of shared interests as members of the EU and the Commonwealth.
